About the film:
“Identity: The Andrew Nemr Story,” tells Andrew’s story as a Lebanese immigrant in New York City. Follow his journey as he struggles with being bullied and the labels others placed on him. Come cheer him on as he navigates the world, searches for his identity, and finds his joy in tap dancing.
Andrew Nemr is considered one of the most diverse tap dance artists today. An international performer, choreographer, educator and speaker, Andrew has played with Grammy Award winning musicians across multiple genres, founded the tap dance company Cats Paying Dues, directs the Tap Dance Freedom education platform, and co-founded the Tap LegacyTM Foundation, Inc., along with his mentor Gregory Hines. His work has received numerous grants and awards and he has been featured on the Fellow’s Stage at TED Global and other TEDx locations.
Screening followed by a conversation between director Jonathan Cipiti and documentary subject, Andrew Nemr.
