In 2018 we screened Laura Nix’s Inventing Tomorrow, an inspiring film that follows seven passionate young scientists and innovators from all over the world as they tackle environmental issues in their own backyards and compete for the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF).
One of the student teams featured three boys from Mexico, Jesús, José and Fernando, who were determined to do something about the dangerous air pollution in their city Monterrey, Mexico, so they conducted research on photo-catalytic paint.
We were delighted that Jesús and José were able to join us for the 2018 Windrider Film Forum and share their important mission during the Windrider Q&A.
Since then, Jesús, José and Fernando have continued their studies at Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León in Monterrey and hope to get good jobs upon graduating to continue their work.
Unfortunately, COVID-19 has been especially devastating to them, as they are in need of financial support to be able to continue school, study English and support their families.
Filmmaker Laura Nix has set up a Go Fund Me grant to cover school fees, household expenses and language tutoring for the boys. If you’d like to learn more and donate, click here.
